Been there, done that, willing to share
Lucky? No. Hard-working? Yes. Cynthia gives new meaning to the word by working six days a week and releasing a 20,000 to 50,000 word story every month.
In her "spare time" (pun intended) Cynthia and her husband run the small press Winged Publications. Their inspirational line, Forget Me Not Romances, includes many of CBA's (Christian Booksellers Association) best, well-known authors.
On the personal side, Cynthia and her husband live in Arizona with one of their seven children, two dogs, two cats, three box turtles, and two Sulcata tortoises.
Cynthia and I made contact in the spring of 2015. For several years, a cousin who was making his mark with electronic publishing had been pushing me to get on board. I balked. I'd always worked with traditional publishers and planned to continue. Why should I learn about SmashWords, CreateSpace and the like--with no guarantee of the outcome?
Two significant events changed my opinion. (1) Unexpected health issues derailed my writing and income. (2) A publisher decided to stop publishing and returned rights on a book. She suggested I contact Cynthia. As they say, the rest is history. In the past two years we have issued over 25 titles in Kindle, print, and electronic collections. Everything from adventure-romance out-of-print novels and novellas to a YA Juli Scott Mystery series and collections of short pieces, i.e., Going Home Again, Joy to the World, and Family Treasures.
"Everything You Need to Know About Writing but Don't Know Who to Ask" is the title of my Amazon review of Cynthia's new title for serious writers. I added, "An excellent volume every writer should have. Clear, concise, informative. A wealth of useful information ranging from concise definitions and pros and cons of the various types of publishing to marketing tips and personal experiences. I highly recommend it."
Writing truly is not for wimps. Down to earth and practical, How Bad Do You Want It? takes readers from Cynthia's early, often heart-breaking attempts to change from writer to published author. She uses the boulders in her road to success as milestones and stepping-stones to enlighten others about the pitfalls as well as the joys we encounter along the writing journey.

Thanks for comment, Christina. I am so excited to feature Cynthia. She deserves it! An inspiration to us all.
Thanks for the background on Cynthia Hickey, and for the book recommend. It sounded interesting enough that I read what I could on the Amazon site, then ordered a copy for my Kindle for PC.
It is so complete. Good reference for anyone who needs to have a short course in publishing choices.
I enjoyed today's post about author/publisher Cynthia Hickey. How Bad Do You Want It sounds like an excellent resource for writers.
I will bring on Thursday for show and tell.
