A Christmas Poem #Christmas#Poetry#Nativity#Serendipity

Serendipity: luck, chance, good fortune, happy accident

😊

I normally don't write poetry. Yet sometimes I awaken with something in mind demanding to be written. Such as these serendipitous picture book openings.

Nine-Tail Kitten. Mother Cat was astonished. Father Cat was amazed. Grandma Cat raised her paws. In all her born days she had never seen anything like Christopher, her new grand-kitten.

God Loves You Whoever You Are (co-author Julie Reece-DeMarco). You may be young or old. You may be short or tall. You may be fat or thin. You may be big or small.

God loves you.

It happened again while I was writing Romance at Rainbow's End, Book Three of the Romance Quartet series. Ellie, the "Sierra Songbird." spends Christmas in San Francisco, far from her beloved ranch home near Madera. Lonely amidst the lavish decorations and laughter, she wonders if anyone there remembers Whose birthday they are celebrating

Ellie hasn't written a song for months, but words flow from her heart that describe her feelings. And mine.

Ballad for a King.  ©2011 by Colleen L. Reece

“Tell me, kind shepherds, when you came to the manger,
What gifts did you bring to the new little stranger
Who quietly lay asleep on the hay?”

“We had no fine gifts on that glorious night
When the fields were ablaze with a heavenly light.
So our voices we raised in worship and praise.”

“Tell me, oh Wise Men who came from afar,
What did you bring when you followed the Star,
And found Him that day in the house where He lay?”

“Gold, frankincense, myrrh
      From far distant lands.
We bowed down in wonder and kissed His small hands.”

“Tell me, good people, what gifts do you bring,
To the Savior who loves us; the King of all kings?
Will you open your hearts and invite Him to stay—
Or, like the innkeeper, turn Him away?"

Serendipity brings pleasure to the heart. Writing about serendipity makes for a twofold pleasure. Lovely post!

Thanks Judy and Sandy. A fun Sunday morning task along with getting in a 25 minute walk before it rained hard. I got sprinkled on but was bundled!

Colleen your song, Ballad for a King needs to be available with music. I would love to have it available to sing in church. It’s beautiful!!
And so moving. Reminds me in some way of Just As I Am!!
Awesome
