Logging in Sales from "Evergreen" Tales #WritingtipsMarketing

Lessons from the Forest

I am blessed to live in Washington, the Evergreen state. We have a multitude of hardwood trees that provide leafy shade in spring and summer, then a spectacular presentation of color in the fall. However, our greatest claim to fame is the towering cedar, spruce, fir, pine and hemlock that are everlastingly green.

Magazines use tree-like stories and articles. "Hardwoods" appear and quickly become out-dated. "Evergreen" material is timely months and even years after originally publication.

Do you have published or unpublished manuscripts in your file? If so, use them to log in new sales. Revise to your present level of writing expertise and change anything that is no longer current--such as dial-tone phones versus cell phones or dated slang/expressions.

In addition to my books, I have 1500+ story and article sales to magazines and church take-home papers, an untapped source of income as rich as a stand of virgin timber. For the past year I have been  sharpening my tools, i.e., editing skills, and gathering the short pieces into gift-type books, Kindle and print.

Evergreens from the Archives

Going Home Again: An Award-winning Author’s Best-loved Stories challenges Thomas Wolfe's contention that you can't go home again. True tales of growing up in an era of few material possessions but rich in love and laughter.
Joy to the World: A Treasury of Christmas Inspiration
(co-authored with Julie Reece-DeMarco). Short pieces for when time-outs from holiday preparations and stress are desperately needed remind readers to be still and reflect on Whose birthday we celebrate.

Especially good for bedtime stories or family devotions. Biblical applications encourage readers to appreciate life and look for the rainbows God often sends after storms.

In addition to Kindle and print singles, these three titles area available as the Kindle collection Family Treasures: Three 24-karat Story Collections.
